What are the side effects?

What are the side effects?
GenTeal is generally well tolerated, but as with other lubricating artificial tear products, temporary stinging and/or burning, and local irritation may occur.

When should I see a doctor?
Stop using these products and see a doctor if you experience any of the following for more than 72 hours:
  • Eye pain
  • Changes in vision
  • Redness
  • Irritation, or
  • If condition worsens

Can I take this with other medications?
There are no known drug interactions. Allow 5 minutes between using other eye medications.


Can I continue to wear contact lenses while I take Genteal products?
Contact lenses should be removed before application of the drops and not reinserted earlier than 10 minutes after use.


Who should not take Genteal products?
Anyone with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
GenTeal® Mild: Active ingredient: Hypromellose, 0.2%

Inactive ingredients: Boric acid, calcium chloride dihydrate, GenAqua™ (sodium perborate), phosphonic acid, potassium chloride, purified water, and sodium chloride.

GenTeal® Moderate: Active ingredient: Hypromellose, 0.3%

Inactive ingredients: Boric acid, GenAqua™ (sodium perborate), phosphonic acid, potassium chloride, purified water, and sodium chloride.

GenTeal® GelDrops: Active ingredients: Carboxymethylcellulose sodium, 0.25% and Hypromellose, 0.3%

Inactive ingredients: Boric acid, calcium chloride dihydrate, citric acid monohydrate, GenAqua™ (sodium peborate), magnesium chloride hexahydrate, phosphoric acid, potassium chloride, purified water, and sodium chloride

GenTeal® Severe: Active ingredient: Hypromellose, 0.3%

Inactive ingredients: Carbopol 980, GenAqua™ (sodium perborate), phosphonic acid, purified water, sodium hydroxide and sorbitol.

GenTeal® PM Ointment: Active ingredients: Mineral Oil, 15% and white petrolatum 85%

Inactive ingredients: No inactive ingredients

GenTeal® PF: Active ingredient: Hydroxypropyl methycellulose, 0.3%

Inactive ingredients: Boric acid, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, potassium chloride, purified water, sodium borate, sodium chloride, and zinc sulfate.



Does Genteal contain latex, gelatin or gluten?
Genteal products do not contain latex, gelatin, or gluten.


Can I stop taking it if I feel better?
Yes, use only as needed or as directed by your healthcare provider.
